An exceptional building experience from start to finish!
Deciding to build was a difficult decision, but one we are absolutely delighted we made. After searching the Redlands for an established home and finding nothing that suited our needs, we took the leap — and choosing Yellowwood Building Group turned out to be one of the best decisions we've ever made.
From our very first introduction through to handing over the keys of our beautiful finished home, Yellowwood made the entire experience professional, seamless and genuinely enjoyable. They listened carefully to our needs, offered exceptional advice, and guided and communicated with us at every single step. From the owners & head office, right through to colour selection, the support was constant and deeply appreciated.
We received a detailed project report every week, complete with progress updates, planning for the week ahead, and photos — so we always knew exactly where things stood.
We owe an enormous thank you to the whole team. Matt listened to us and helped bring our vision to life, turning our ideas into the plan we'd dreamed of. Sam guided us through colour selection and the early stages with patience and expertise. Justin stayed on top of every variation and kept everything moving without a hitch. Candice and Liz were a pleasure to deal with throughout. And our electrician deserves a special mention — his guidance helped us sail through what could have been a complicated part of the build. The trades, across the board, delivered an amazing finish!
But our greatest respect and admiration is reserved for Frank, our Foreman — and honestly, we cannot speak highly enough of him. Frank was the heart of this build. He patiently stepped us through every element of the process, explaining what was happening and what came next so we never felt lost or overwhelmed. He coordinated the tradespeople flawlessly, kept every stage running like clockwork, and brought a calm, capable presence to the entire project. His attention to detail, his communication, and his genuine care for getting things right made all the difference. Frank gave us complete confidence from beginning to end, and he is a huge part of why this experience was as smooth and stress-free as it was. If you build with Yellowwood, you'll quickly understand why we rate him so highly.
The timeframes amazed us — we finished months ahead of the projected completion date, and nobody can quite believe it. We've become the talk of the neighbourhood, in the very best way!
Everyone told us we were crazy to build, but we can honestly say it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. We are absolutely over the moon with our home.

We started our build with Yellowwood in November 2022 and are on track for practical completion in October which will be a month ahead of our contract date.
Throughout the build the communication has been fantastic, they are always receptive to our questions and concerns, I have never felt like they were trying to make us accept sub-standard work or shortcuts. They have been extremely patient given this is our first build and our questions are probably relentless at times.
The initial quote was more complete than other builders we spoke to, and the advantage of a custom builder was being able to tweak design and inclusions to ensure we got what we wanted but still maintained a budget. This has also meant the only changes in pricing have been those that we initiated.
They have been completely flexible with changes we've wanted to make along the way, and Kim and Frank have been amazing to deal with. In an undertaking this size there will always be issues that come up, but the key is how they are handled and communicated.
Frank and Kim always bring solutions to us whenever they find any issues, and I don't feel they try to hide things from us which has given us a lot of trust in their work.
While we aren't quite completed yet, if things continue as they have so far I'm sure we're going to be thrilled with the finished product.

I sit here in our new home nearly 2 months before the practical completion date enjoying a few beers while looking at a mountain of unpacking ahead of us. I see the quality of finish and adherence to an outcome that was important to us. ... time. We needed this done welll and we needed it done quickily. To anyone reading this and thinking about whether committing to yellowwood is worth it... I would like to give my account of an amazing experience with them. This review may read like a novel, but it’s simply our heartfelt thanks to yellowwood for guiding us through what felt like the adventure of a lifetime. Building a forever home is enormous, most likely the biggest financial commitment we’ll likely ever make, and the backdrop for memories to create in our family. Even when we walked away to sort out land and sale logistics, we never lost sight of your sincerity. When we circled back, it felt like picking up right where we left off... no hard sell, just unwavering support.
Matt, your attention to detail and no nonsense feedback transformed our floor plan into something we can’t wait to live in. From our first design brief, it was clear you envisioned every corner as if it were your own home. Your pearls of wisdom on colour selection day were absolutely invaluable. Justin, though our direct interactions were fewer, your steady hand behind the scenes kept everything on track. Navigating post contract adjustments and contractual risk isn’t glamorous work, but you handled it with empathy and efficiency. When we stumbled over window coverage and other details, you turned potential hurdles into quick resolutions, always with professionalism and care.
Sam, watching you weave our scattered inspirations into a cohesive design language was fascinating. You managed that delicate balance of honoring our personal style while elevating it with signature Yellowwood flair. Your mid-build check-ins whether adjusting bulkheads, laundry chutes, or cabinetry, were generous touches that remind us why design is so much more than aesthetics.
Frank, leading a team to deliver a 320 m², two-storey home in just five months (including weathering a cyclone) is nothing short of unbelievable. The build quality speaks for itself, but what truly stood out was your availability for every site visit, your openness to questions, and your thoughtful handling of neighbourly hiccups. You made a complex process feel collaborative and even enjoyable.
To everyone at Yellowwood, thank you for combining top tier professionalism with genuine warmth. We’ve already recommended you to friends, and we’ll continue cheering on your success because you deserve it. We first approached Yellowwood Building Group in 2023, and right from our very first phone call, the experience was overwhelmingly positive. The sales team was friendly, honest, and reassuring — they took the time to understand our needs and confirmed they could work within our budget. We quickly arranged our initial design meeting, and that’s when we met Matt Rohde. Matt was incredibly knowledgeable about the building process and immediately put us at ease.
We discussed our vision and requirements, and from there, we worked closely with the talented Yellowwood designers to bring our dream home to life. Our block of land had some complex requirements — including council regulations, environmental factors, erosion, flooding, and tidal inundation — but Yellowwood's team guided us through it all with confidence and expertise. Their attention to detail and calm, clear communication made a potentially stressful period feel smooth and manageable.
While waiting for approvals, we had an absolute blast choosing colours, fixtures, and finishes. Yellowwood’s Business Manager, Sam Fawke, and Coordination Manager, Kim Owen, held our hand through this entire process — they were fantastic, incredibly supportive, and just as excited about our house as we were. Their guidance made what could have been overwhelming feel fun and exciting.
Our build started in early February 2024, and like all builds, there were a few bumps along the way — but Yellowwood was always there to help resolve issues efficiently and professionally. We received handover in late November 2024, and the finished product is everything we dreamed of and more. The home is well-built, well-engineered, and we truly love it.

We completed our house build with Yellowwood over a year ago and can't say enough good things about them.
During the build phase, nothing was ever too much trouble. If we wanted to make a small change, everything was always done without a fuss. Little extra improvements were always pointed out (often at no extra cost) and any big changes we wanted were always quoted quickly so we could make informed choices. In the end, we didn't go a dollar over budget and we were within 1 week of initial projected completion time.
1 year on, any small defects we've found have all been fixed free of charge and they're responsive and diligent to anything we ask of them.

We recently completed a custom build with Yellowwood and we couldn't be happier with the end product and their service & work through the process.
Matt Rohde and especially Frank (our site supervisor) were always responsive, gave great suggestions and were open to variations after the build started (and there were many), and did above and beyond for our house.
Actually our knockdown rebuild started off poorly with the demolition (not organised by Yellowwood) delaying the process, burying some remains of the knockdown back into the land, and leaving. Yellowwood sorted this quickly for us, and from frame up in January the house was pretty much complete by August which is pretty impressive for custom build nearing 400sqm. The external handover inspection report and feedback was very positive as well with only minor touch ups required.
We did the handover after external works in October, and the house is what we dreamed and hoped for. Definitely impressed by Yellowwood and their team and would highly recommend.
Special props to Frank our site supervisor - YOU ARE THE BEST! The relationship you cultivated with us and the contractors made this whole process smooth and so much less stressful than it otherwise could have been!!!

Recently completed a new Hamptons styled home build with the team at Yellowwood. The team was incredibly accommodating, highly recommended if you’re looking for a custom home build. The build was completed on time (moved in just before Christmas as promised), and to the agreed Contract Price. The team was always contactable, and happy to answer any questions or resolve any concerns I had during the whole process. Would happily build again with Yellowwood.

We completed our build with Yellowwood in June 2025, following a site commencement in March 2024, with Frank acting as our site supervisor for most parts of the project.
Our decision to proceed with Yellowwood was largely influenced by the professionalism and diligence Matt demonstrated during the pre-contract phase. He was consistently responsive, transparent, and willing to work through the finer details, which provided confidence at a stage where many builders tend to become less engaged.
Overall, the build journey was relatively smooth, with only a handful of issues arising along the way. To their credit, the team generally addressed concerns once they were identified, and items raised by our independent inspector were rectified without unnecessary resistance.
The quality of workmanship was good and, in most areas, reduced the need for extensive post-handover corrections. While no build is entirely free of defects or variations, the finished product reflects a solid standard of construction.
Looking back, the experience largely met our expectations, although much of that can be attributed to the close involvement and professionalism of Matt and Frank. Their willingness to engage, respond and follow matters through made a noticeable difference and was often what kept the project moving in the right direction.
Overall, a positive outcome!!
